Pros and Cons

Make your smile your Valentine this February and treat yourself to the smile you’ve always wanted!

Dr. Jivan is trained in an incredible variety of cosmetic procedures to enhance your smile including brightening, straightening and even replacing teeth, but the service that sits far and above the others is our cosmetic veneers!

ARE THEY REALLY WORTH IT?

In short, YES! Cosmetic veneers are extremely versatile and capable of improving on any issues or concerns that you may have. But let’s break it down some more…..

SO WHAT ARE COSMETIC VENEERS?

Cosmetic Veneers, also known as composite veneers, offer you the most customization of your smile, with the most natural results! This procedure can help lengthen, straighten, whiten and even close gaps or change the shape of individual teeth all in just one office visit.

Cosmetic Veneers are essentially an outer shell added on top of your existing smile to protect your teeth and make any additional cosmetic improvements you’re looking for!

In our office we take the customization one step further! We take in-depth, highly detailed scans and measurements of your current smile and utilize the most cutting-edge technology to craft several different options of your new smile for you to choose from. Each of those options are 3-D printed right here in our own offices so you can try each option on before you commit to your new look!

HOW DO THEY WORK?

The process of getting cosmetic veneers is both quick and simple!

First, we roughen the front surface of the tooth, and if needed, we will also contour the edges of the tooth. After that, we’ll apply a few prepping solutions onto each tooth and ensure that the surface is clean.

Then, we’ll select and create the perfect shade for your new smile and get to work! We’ll place the composite resin over each tooth and mold it to create the ideal shape. Once the desired shape is achieved, the composite resin is cured and hardened with a special UV light. The last step is to smooth and polish the composite veneer, and after that, you have the smile of your dreams!

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Benefits and Importance

Implants are the best solution for simulating natural teeth’ look, feel, and function. Dental implants provide a high-tech replacement while mimicking natural tooth structure, much more than replacing missing teeth. They help maintain and strengthen bone structure, act as a natural tooth by providing the ability to chew healthy food and give patients the confidence to love their smile. Implants also protect existing teeth by helping to preserve the existing bone structure.

Dr. Jivan has placed thousands of implants over his career. If a patient is a candidate or wants to know more about dental implants, Dr. Jivan will happily spend the time to explain the details of the procedure and answer any questions they may have. At Advanced Park Dental and MJ Dental, we routinely use dental implants to replace single and multiple missing teeth.

WHY IS A DENTAL IMPLANT BENEFICIAL?

Once a tooth is lost, several things begin to happen that are not immediately noticeable to a patient and can significantly affect both health and appearance. If you lose a tooth, Dr. Jivan recommends calling him right away. Tooth roots help hold teeth in place, but they are also critical in maintaining health in the surrounding gums and supporting bone structures. Compromising the integrity of your bone structure will bone loss in the jawbone is one significant problem that naturally occurs once a tooth is lost. This affects the neighboring tooth roots and tooth stability, and it is also a large part of what causes the “sunken” look seen in people who have lost several or all of their teeth.

Patients who wear dentures find that their dentures are harder and harder to fit and keep in place over time.Dental implant technology has become a state-of-the-art tooth replacement solution because of its advantages over earlier repair options.Dental implant placement can help generate natural bone growth in the area around the implant, which strengthens the bone and builds support, and prevents the sunken look that can occur with bone loss in the jaw. This process is known as osseointegration and is a significant benefit of implant placement because it can also help prevent future bone loss.

ARE THERE HEALTH BENEFITS TO HAVING AN IMPLANT?

Although having a beautiful smile and the confidence that it is essential, there are also important health reasons to have dental implants. Whether replacing one tooth or several, implants are critical to restoring and maintaining dental health.

Dental implants behave like natural teeth, can last a lifetime with proper care, and prevent additional bone loss. Implants also help support the surrounding teeth that can crookedly grow toward a gap and pull your teeth out of position. Shifting teeth can cause a broad array of issues, including poor bite, TMJ, and can even result in pain and headaches.

WHAT ARE COMPOSITE VENEERS?

Dental composite veneers are thin shells of composite (think filling material) custom fabricated in Dr. Jivan’s in-house dental laboratory to cover chipped, discolored, unevenly spaced, or misshapen teeth. The veneers are fabricated on 3D printed models by Dr. Jivan, explicitly taken of the patient’s natural teeth that have been lightly prepared.

Learn the six main benefits of choosing composite veneers and if they’re the right choice for you!

THEY BOTH LOOK AND FEEL NATURAL!

Composite veneers are custom-made to look as natural as possible in your mouth. The thin shells of composite blended to feel like your natural teeth. The design is customized to fit your facial symmetry and overall style. People usually don’t immediately notice you had cosmetic dental work done because it will look so natural, and you will find yourself having greater self-confidence in your smile.

THEY ARE LOW MAINTENANCE.

Composite veneers are like natural teeth in terms of maintenance. You’ll need to brush your teeth like usual twice a day and floss daily, apart from the regular dental checkups with your dentist.

Composite Veneers can cover years of discoloration and resists stains and cavities better than your natural tooth enamel. A dental veneer will last between 10 and 15 years with proper maintenance.

FIXES COSMETIC ISSUES QUICKLY.

It can fix most cosmetic issues like chipped teeth, missing teeth, gaps between teeth, misshapen teeth, and stained or discolored teeth with composite veneers.

Some orthodontic treatments like braces treat gaps between the teeth but take more time and are associated with pain and inconvenience. The teeth will not be moved with veneers, only camouflaged, fixing the problem in a single visit in less time and without any pain.

Composite veneers are incredibly resilient and can be much more stain-resistant than natural teeth, so there’s no need to get them whitened regularly as you would your natural teeth. Dr. Jivan will provide an array of natural white tones to choose your perfect shade.

COMPOSITE VENEERS REQUIRE LITTLE ENAMEL REMOVAL AND ARE A VIABLE TREATMENT FOR ENAMEL LOSS.

The enamel on the teeth is very strong, but it can still get worn away by highly acidic foods,over-ambitious tooth-brushing, or acid reflux disease, and once it wears away, it’s gone for good. Composite veneers offer a durable but also aesthetically pleasing way to replace enamel.

Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, composite veneers do not require an aggressive removal of the original tooth structure. Although it requires removing a thin layer of enamel so the tooth doesn’t look too large and awkward, it is a less invasive process than any other dental restoration option. Dr. Jivan prides himself on being very conservative and maintaining the integrity of healthy tooth structure as much as possible.

DENTAL VENEERS ARE A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT.

Veneers are a dental investment; they’re used to accomplish various essential goals, from orthodontic camouflage to teeth whitening and enamel replacement.

They’re a long-term investment and, unlike other cosmetic dental treatments, they are long-lasting and give patients a boost in their self-confidence. It’s a worthy investment!

Cosmetic veneers are one of the most significant recent advancements in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Jivan uses the latest in cosmetic dental technology and equipment, a state-of-the-art in-house CAT Scan and Imaging lab, high-tech 3D printing, and precise cosmetic artistry.

GET YOUR KIDS TO THE DENTIST BEFORE SCHOOL RESTARTS

Taking care of children’s oral health is a task that needs to be maintained after the eruption of the first baby teeth. If these are not treated correctly, more complex problems can arise, affecting the health of the child’s mouth.

Baby teeth decay is one of the leading oral health problems among children in our country. Child untreated cavities can lead to difficulties with eating, speaking, and daily routines. It is essential that, in children’s oral health education for younger children, both parents and dentists are involved, teaching them the correct brushing habits and oral hygiene to incorporate into their daily life.

By educating children about their oral hygiene, we help them to understand this task as part of their daily routine by performing it naturally and maintaining it to prevent the development of future health problems.

There is a direct relationship between oral health and general health; it is essential to help our children take care of their oral health, establishing healthy habits that will have an impact on their smiles and their health. General to adulthood. Following correct daily oral hygiene takes care of the health of children’s teeth and gums, thus avoiding the common problems that a large part of the population currently suffers.

Starting oral hygiene at an early age

Children must start taking care of their teeth as early as possible. At first, parents will carry out this daily care and then teach them to do it later on their own. Tooth brushing should start with the appearance of the baby’s first teeth, making it a daily habit.

For this purpose, there are toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwashes suitable for different ages available on the market.

Calcium intake is essential at an early age for the proper formation of teeth. The deficiency of certain minerals in critical periods of dental development is related to a greater predisposition to suffer from dental caries.

Establish a routine schedule

It is imperative to establish a routine schedule for oral hygiene for children to brush their teeth, preferably when they get up, after eating, and before going to bed. This last brushing is essential, as the bacteria have to act and form the dental biofilm all night. Creating this daily routine with schedules makes it easier for children not to forget to brush their teeth when they should.

Have fun while learning

Instead of making teeth cleaning a chore, we can approach it as fun using songs, videos, and dances to help them learn more efficiently.

Let them choose their favorite hygiene products

There is a wide range of accessories and oral hygiene products for children, from which they can choose the ones they like best. This way, they also feel part of the process and, therefore, are more motivated.

The example is set at home

Children learn by imitation. If we want our children to learn to take care of their oral hygiene, we must lead by example. When brushing teeth is part of the family routine, children will get used to making it a daily habit.

Regularly visit the dentist

Children must visit the dentist at least a couple of times a year, even if they still have baby teeth. At this stage of life, when children are in full development, it is a crucial time to detect health problems or malformations that only a dental professional can see.

In most cases, this will be a simple check-up where the dentist checks that your teeth are developing correctly. If any problems are detected, solutions can be found immediately.

Get the proper nutrition

A balanced diet is essential to take care of children’s teeth. Sweets, which they like so much, are the main culprits in the formation of cavities, so it’s essential not to abuse sugary foods and teach them to eat healthier.

Proper technique and two-minute brushing time

It is highly recommended to accompany our children while they brush their teeth to verify that the time they spend is adequate and supervise the technique with which they do it. To eliminate most of the bacteria that settle in the mouth, teeth should be brushed for at least two minutes. Dr. Jivan insists on the importance of combining both technique and duration.

Change the toothbrush every three months

It is advisable to renew the Toothbrush approximately every three months, as the bristles begin to open and wear out, making brushing incorrect. Also, children often play with the Toothbrush by biting it, making it less effective.

Leave Your Anxiety at the Door

If your heart races at the very thought of the dentist, your child can probably tell.

The younger your kids are, the more you need to be aware of how you’re communicating with them. For example, if your child asks about getting a cavity filled, don’t say, “It will only hurt for a little bit.” Instead, encourage your child to speak to Dr. Jivan directly. “With any child, you want them to be able to feel successful at accomplishing a good visit and link that positive feeling with the idea that their teeth are strong and healthy so they have that message going forward for the rest of their lives.”

Remind your kiddos that our office offers their very own tv to watch any favorite show on Netflix, Disney +, or any other streaming device. They will even get their own headphones!

Keep Cool If Your Child Won’t Cooperate

If your child gets upset during her visit, the worst thing you can do is swoop them out of the chair and leave. Our team will gently guide your child to get through the visit and reinforce the positive experience.

Dr. Jivan understands that his youngest patients may be in an environment they feel they can’t control and that makes them upset. The entire team works together to break the visit down into small steps that lead to big victories and a sense of accomplishment.

Take a Card, or Two, When You Leave

Accidents can happen whether your child is in sports, gym class or just walking down the hall in school. In case of emergency, make sure your child’s teachers, school and coaches have all the medical contact information they need – including your dentist’s number. Grab business cards for your wallet, your child’s backpack and your school’s files. Dr. Jivan is happy to make himself available in any kind of dental emergency for your families well being and peace of mind!
